Let’s Play for Keeps

I’ve posted a good amount of material about what not to do when raiding and i was trying to make a “what to do right” post but it degenerated when i start to talk about consideration. Probably because lack of consideration is usually the breakdown point between what makes a good raider and what makes a bad one o.0 So my first post sorta followed that line of thought all on it’s own, lol. Let’s dive in.

3 things i think separate the really great raiders from the warm body types are:

  1. Consideration
  2. Study
  3. Preparation

I’m going to break these down into 3 separate posts. The first one being…

Consideration:

Every one starts out needing a little help and encouragement from time to time but there are some behaviors that are just plain inconsiderate. Here are a couple of my most recent favs…

  • Raid Chatter: it is usually meant to be funny and witty but is really rude and annoying

All of the really bad raids that i have been on have one thing in common: constant raid chatter.

Merriam-Webster defines chatter: 2.) to talk idly, incessantly, or fast

Chatter creates confusion since a lot of it has nothing to do with the raid or is information you don’t need at that moment. It ties up the vent channel so confused parties have no room to ask important questions and is just all around annoying.

Raid leaders can do it on accident when trying to communicate every tiny bit of information and all possible solutions at once to everyone at the same time. But very rarely do people need a lot of in depth information. They simply need to know what to do and when to do it. End of story.

The flip side to this also falls under Preparation. You can do your part to support your raid leader and cut down on the “raid” type chatter by doing a little of your own research so that they don’t have to over explain everything to you and you already have a basic idea of what you should be doing and a lot of the finer details can be handled by class leaders or just aren’t important enough to share with the whole class.

  • Showing up drunk or high: it is lame for 2 reasons,

#1 it leads to senseless “CHATTER”

Webster’s definition: 1.) to utter rapid short sounds suggestive of language but inarticulate and indistinct

Remember kids stupid comments = nervous laughter NOT to be confused with a truly witty comments which invite genuine belly laughs.

#2 you make stupid mistakes just like in real life

You might not end up in jail or a wrecked car but you will be stupid non the less. At the very least you lose the respect i might have given you as a player worth my time to raid with. (sorry that sounded very elitist, but i’m leaving it in lol o.0)

Those are my thoughts on raiding consideration. I’m sure there are a ton more examples of inconsiderate behaviors. Like i said these are just a few of my most recent favorites =) Please feel free to share some of your own experiences good and bad so we can all laugh or cry… like little babies…until we wet our pants…

Oh, and if any of these bad behaviors were you rest assured you will stay anonymous even if your behavior goes down in infamy, muwahaha!

yours,

psy
